Why EVERY Photographer needs to use Photoshop


The great debate of the photography world, Photoshop! Some Photographers are all for it while others are entirely against it. As you can probably tell from the title of this article I stand alongside those that support Photoshop and Ill explain my reasons further on in this article.

First and for most for those of you that aren't familiar with Photoshop or haven't even ever heard of Photoshop let me do some explaining... To provide you with the simplest and most accurate of definitions of Photoshop I decide to simply let Google do the work. Heres what I got:

As the worlds most trusted search engine declares: "Alter (a photographic image) digitally using Photoshop image-editing software." There you have it people! Photoshop in the simplest of terms is defined as nothing more than image-editing software. 

Google's definition is 100% accurate and true. Photoshop is used to alter images. But what if the definition of Photoshop goes deeper...

You see heres where the great debate starts. Either you view Photoshop as a CHEAT or a TOOL. Many strongly believe Photoshopping your images is basically cheating in the Photography world. So many people believe a true photographer doesn't need to use Photoshop to take amazing photos. These people believe taking a great photo is limited to the lens. Meanwhile others view Photoshop as a tool or a helping hand. An opportunity to enhance their photos and bring out the beauty and detail of an image. As I stated earlier in the paragraph: "Limited to the lens". Pay special attention to the keyword limited. When you stand against photoshop you are limiting yourself. You are saying no to another tool and helping hand. You are refusing to take advantage of the chance to enhance and further bring out the beauty in your images.

Soo many photographers use tripods, lighting equipment and more tools! Tell me how can these tools be okay but, photoshop isn't? 

Personally I say all the more tools and opportunity the better! Why limit yourself? Why restrain yourself from going further than the lens! I say bring on the possibilities. Every photographer needs to learn and understand Photoshop and all its capable of.
